precision of language

After seeing The Giver this weekend, one phrase has been on replay in my head, “precision of language.” The fact that the phrase is said by an eerily robotic Katie Holmes is enough to engrain the phrase into your memory, but her words also got me thinking.

When writing, whether on the clock or off, my use of the word very is inappropriate. Very fun, very loud, very tired, etc. Basically Katie Holmes would be on loop yelling “precision of language” if she witnessed the way I write and speak. So in an effort to make my communications more succinct and bearable, I promise to make use of the below chart until the words become a part of my vocabulary.
