152 elizabeth street

Tadao Ando, the world renowned Japanese architect, is bringing green space to NYC one project at a time. The 152 Elizabeth Street residence located in Nolita, includes a monumental green wall. The luxury seven story, seven residence project is covered with a living green wall measuring 55 feet by 99 feet. The landscape design evolves organically through different seasons, comprising of vines selected for a mix of textures and colors. The plants featured on the wall include: English ivy, Boston ivy, Virginia creepers, jasmine clematis, and climbing hydrangeas. It is pretty amazing to see the work go from rough sketches to a living piece of art.152 elizabeth street 152 elizabeth street152 elizabeth streetFor more on Tadao Ando’s 152 Elizabeth Street check out this site.

  1. Very cool concept!! It raises the question of who has rights to the sun’s rays? What if another taller building blocks the green wall or someone’s solar panels?!?
